Course Description:

Course Description:  This course will include all areas of the curriculum of 11th grade English – reading, research, writing, speaking and listening, vocabulary, and grammar, usage and mechanics. The textbooks for this class are Prentice Hall. In addition, students will be issued a grammar workbook in which they be doing most of their grammar practice. Also, students will be assigned novels and plays from other sources.

 

Grading Scale:

Nine Weeks Grading Categories:

Daily Grades………………..10%

Minor Grades……………….30%

Major Grades………………..60%

 

Semester Grading Percentages:

First Nine Weeks………….…40%

Second Nine Weeks……….…40%

Semester Exam……………….20%

In order to maintain a positive learning environment in our classroom the following behavior is expected from your student:

  1. Be in class on time.

2.       Bring to class all workbooks, pens, pencils, notebooks, and any assignment due that day.

3.       Be respectful of others and the property of others.

 

Consequences for Class I Violations (see the Code of Student Conduct):

1st offense  – verbal or nonverbal warning

2nd offense – break detention

3rd offense – parental contact

4th offense – office referral

 

Consequences for Class II, III, and IV Violations will result in immediate action as stated in Ozark City Schools’ Code of Student Conduct.
