Mr. McDonald is originally from Huntsville, Alabama, and a graduate of Virgil I. Grissom High School.  After graduation, Mr. McDonald attended The University of Alabama and Troy University.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Industries.  While attending Troy University Mr. McDonald was a member of the 'Sound of the South' Marching Band, the Concert Band, Symphony Band, the Jazz Ensemble, the Jazz Combo, and the Troy University Trumpet Ensemble. While a member of the Trumpet Ensemble Mr. McDonald had the pleasure of performing at ITG (International Trumpet Guild) as a featured group.  At the University of Alabama Mr. McDonald was a member of the 'Million Dollar Band', the Symphonic Band, The Jazz Ensemble, the Jazz Combo, the Basketball and Gymnastics Pep Bands, and a Brass Quintet.  In May 2014 Mr. McDonald received his Master's in Music Education from Troy University.  Mr. McDonald currently serves in the Alabama Army National Guard as a member of the 151st Army Band in Montgomery Alabama.  Mr. McDonald is also a member of the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA), ABA and AMEA. In 2017, Mr. McDonald was selected as Carroll High School Teacher of the Year.




Mr. McDonald was hired at Carroll High School in 2014 and is married to the D.A. Smith Middle School band director, Michelle McDonald.  We have 3 children, Evan, Levi and Kara.  GO EAGLES!
