Married to Lawrence Allen Povlacs, Design Director for Povlacs Consulting Services in Dothan, AL; 2 boys - Evan (10) and Patrick (9); I enjoy traveling in the U.S. and abroad, learning about U.S. and British history, debating politics, reading, listening to music, cooking, bike riding, hiking, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends.  I was recently selected as a 2017 Alfred Lerner Fellow by the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center to study the Holocaust with the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous in NYC at Columbia University this summer.

Currently, I am a Group Leader for EF Tours.  My most recent trip was last summer with a group of 9 students and parents to Ireland, N. Ireland, Scotland and London.  I have had the privilege to lead our very gracious and energetic CHS students on  5 EF Tours to mulitple countries and the 2018 tour orientation will be planned for late August, so stay tuned.

I believe in the relevance of global travel as an emotive, aesthetic, and important experience for our students and even adults to have in the 21st century. Increasingly, U.S. colleges and companies are reaching out to foreign students because they have the global skills to compete in our changing economy and workforce.  We must continue to train and expose our students to the relevant experiences of a changing economy and travel does that and so much more! I was  Recently selected as a 2013 Fund for Teachers Fellow along with P. Tyson Reed where we were able to study WWII and the Holocaust in Warsaw, Krakow, Prague, Berlin and Munich.

The next international trip will be June 2018 to Spain, Provence, and Paris. This trip is available to current Juniors and Seniors in good disciplinary and academic standing.
