Carroll Wins 20th straight regular Season Game

The Eagles won their 20th straight regular season game and clinched back-to-back region titles with the victory. Carroll (7-0) actually trailed 6-0 as Booker T. Washington struck first to take a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter.  But Carroll went on top when Jonathan Fells scored on a 5-yard run with 7:21 to play in the first quarter and Ed White connected on the PAT to make it 7-6.

B.T. Washington wrestled back the lead at 12-7 with 4:17 to play in the opening quarter, but Carroll responded when Markel Lewis broke free on an 80-yard run with 3:47 left in the first quarter to make it 15-12 after Fells ran in the 2-point conversion.

Trey Buchanan connected on a 30-yard scoring toss to Issac McLeod with 2:01 left before halftime and White’s PAT made it 22-12, where the score stood at halftime. Fells scored on a 10-yard run with 8:52 to play in the third quarter and Fells ran in the 2-point try for a 30-12 lead.

Fells scored yet another touchdown, this time from 10 yards out, with 7:14 to play in the third, making it 36-12. The PAT was blocked.

D’Quarious Fryer scored on a 3-yard run early in the fourth quarter and Mikell Griffin scored on a 3-yard run with 1:36 left for the final margin of victory.

Fells had 101 yards rushing on 15 carries. Lewis had 88 yards on three tries, Griffin had 47 yards on 10 attempts and Mazue Martin and Fryer each ran for 25 yards.

Carroll wins 49-12. Carroll is celebrating homecoming this week and will take on Escambia Blue Devils this Friday night. Kick off is at 7:00 pm. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned during half-time. Please come out and support the band, cheerleaders and football team.
