CTV 2018-2019

The Carroll High School Broadcasting Path of Study consists of 2 levels: Intro to TV Production and TV (Advanced) Production, Writing and Performing with a total of 30 students per semester participating in the program. Intro to TV is an introduction to filming, writing scripts, media law, and editing. These students learn the basics of editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, basic camera operations, shot framing, storyboarding, script writing, and other entry level broadcasting skills. Projects consist of Newscast, PSA’s, Packages, Interviews with special guests, sports highlights and Managing CTV Social media.

All students rotate through the crew positions; however there is an audition process for on-air talent. The students maintain the same job for a week before rotating to the next one. Students are expected to be professional regardless of the position they are in for a particular rotation. The anchors write their own scripts using a great cloud based program called “Rundown Creator”. This allows all of the students to work on the script at the same time and a producer to approve each story as it is completed. Each daily show is 7-10 minutes long. The first hour of hour block is going to be focus in finding three stories about Health, Local News, and National News. Those packages are going to be presented the next morning during our live show. Last hour of our block is going to be focus in managing our social media platforms and filming interview with any staff member or student. Every Morning the entire school will watch us… CTV have the power to providing them the latest news in our city, country, and around the world.
